33rd Annual Championship Show Report Back

h1 October 26th, 2008

Hello everyone

The show was held at the Brackenfell Sports Club which proved yet again to be a great venue. As always, the weather is a big factor in the success of an outdoor event: our prayers for a cooler day were certainly answered – but we did have to put up with a very chilly ‘Cape Doctor’ which blew relentlessly.

We had an entry of 80 dogs with many of our exhibitors travelling from outside the Western Cape – a big thank you to all of you for making the effort and supporting the Cape Spring Show Fortnight! Best in Show went to the Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog, Ch Sylon Leo, bred and owned by Mrs L van Niekerk, with the Reserve being awarded to the Airedale Terrier dog, Ch Danien Maza Million of Kaikoura, bred by Mrs D. Pera and owned by Mrs P de Coning.

Our Members’ Challenge had an entry of thirteen dogs and was judged by Mrs Carol Larkin. The challenge was won by Scottish Terrier Ch Amboseli Lone Star. In second place was Westie Ch Hopecharm Chase the Wind of MacWarren and third was Cairn Terrier ‘Tamerine’ – each of which won a nice cash prize.

Many thanks to our exhibitors, to our sponsors and to the committee for making this show such a wonderful success.

32nd Annual Championship Show Report Back

h1 October 29th, 2007

This year, the show was held at the Brackenfell Sports Club – a new venue for our club and one that will definitely be up for consideration in the future. The weather was unbelievably hot in the morning but luckily started to cool down slightly once the wind came up and showing was not too uncomfortable for the dogs or exhibitors.

We had a decent entry of 97 dogs with more than a third of the exhibitors making the journey from outside the Western Cape – a big thank you to all of you for making the effort and supporting the Cape Spring Show Fortnight! Best in Show went to the Scottish Terrier that has taken the Cape by storm, Ch Gladwen Black Magic, bred by the late Mrs Gwen Steyn and owned by Mr George Loock from Pretoria, with the Reserve being awarded to the Port Elizabeth Norfolk Terrier, Ch Shamanda Last of a Legend, owned and bred by Miss Amanda Young.

For the first time, we ran a Members’ Challenge after the Best in Show and had a very nice entry of twelve dogs including Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Airedale, Irish, Scottish and West Highland White Terriers. The challenge was won by a Staffie, with a Westie second and a Scottie third, each of which won a nice cash prize.
